WMO
The days of free WVO are rapidly coming to a close. So what is a guy to do? I am going to shift development focus from Waste Vegetable Oil and look at exploring use of Waste Motor Oil. Yes, I know it is not going to have the sweet smell of French Fries as I drive down the road but it will be a very cost effective and plentiful fuel source for those that are early down that path.
The way I see it, WMO has two major hurtles that are similar to the hurtles of using WVO as a fuel in a diesel engine.
1) The waste oil is contaminated
2) The waste oil has much higher viscosity than diesel oil.
In short, both of these issues have been solved in the WVO industry. An oil centrifuge is required to remove solid and liquid contaminants from the motor oil regardless of size and a heated two tank system is required to safely use it in your diesel engine. I will be exploring these issues and documenting my experience in the design forum on this wvo site. Feel free to add your comments.
